Vacancy Description

The Public Protection Partnership (PPP) is a partnership between West Berkshire Council and Bracknell-Forest Council delivering the Trading Standards, Environmental Health and Licencing functions across both Councils. In addition we have entered into an agreement to provide the Trading Standards service on behalf of Wokingham Borough Council.

Within PPP the Trading Standards function is within the Community and Trading Standards team and we work closely with our Environmental Health colleagues to deliver services to consumers and business so there are opportunities to work with colleagues in other professions to enhance work experiences.

We are seeking a highly motivated Trading Standards Officer to join our team who have all round experience in all aspects of Trading Standards work. Ideally you will have the food qualification required (please refer to job description)  and competency or are currently working towards it. As such we will also consider applications from officers who may not be fully qualified Trading Standards Officers but who hold the necessary food qualification.

The Authority is committed to personal and professional development so successful candidates can further their development with us.

We have offices at Newbury, Theale and Bracknell and the base for the positions may be located at one of these offices in addition we also offer flexible working arrangements.

We are ideally looking to offer the successful candidate the full number of hours advertised above. We may however consider offering less hours than advertised providing they meet the requirements of the role and service which will be determined by the recruiting manager.

West Berkshire Council offer excellent employment benefits such as flexible working, access to a wide range of relevant training, local government pension scheme, family friendly policies, a range of local discounts and much more. You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement of 28 days per annum rising to a maximum of 33 days.
