Are you an experienced Intervention Worker looking for a new opportunity to progress and develop your skills?

We have the opportunity for a candidate who has extensive experience in delivering early help interventions directly to families to take on a new role within West Berkshire Council’s Contact, Advice and Assessment Service as a Senior Intervention Worker.

The post is currently based within CAAS Early Response Hub but the successful candidate will be part of our forward planning and upcoming developments across our early help provision within Children’s Services.

The Early Response Hub is a multi-agency hub focusing on early help, intervention and prevention with the aim of supporting families and preventing the concerns from escalating. 

About the role

As part of the Senior Intervention Worker role, tasks will consist of but not limited to:

To have responsibility delegated by the team manager/assistant team manager for the delivery of performance indicators in line with set standards and departmental expectations which may include ensuring:--

  • Timeliness of Intervention Worker allocation.
  • Quality and timelines of My Family Plans or equivalent early help holistic assessments.
  • Timeliness of My Family Plan activity.
  • Timeliness of case closure
  • Outcomes achieved and impact/distance travelled.
  • Timeliness of appropriate escalation/de-escalation across thresholds.

The line management of Intervention Workers or equivalent non-social work qualified members of staff.

Delivering focused, targeted interventions with families

Multi-agency working

Group case discussions

Direct work with children and families

Leading on professional meetings for children and their families

Offering advice and guidance to practitioners identified to lead on earlier help support provision such as the My Family Plan.

As Early Help is everyone’s responsibility the role includes joint working with all colleagues across services to ensure that all aspects of a child’s life experiences are captured.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.

This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
