Are you a dedicated and experienced Social Worker looking for a new opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children with disabilities? West Berkshire Council is seeking a motivated individual to join our Education Services Service as a Social Worker, reporting to the Children with Disabilities Team Manager.

As a Social Worker in the Children with Disabilities Team, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality support and intervention to children and their families. You will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing care plans, and ensuring the delivery of appropriate services to meet the individual needs of each child. Working in collaboration with other professionals and agencies, you will contribute to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in our community.

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Qualified Social Worker with relevant professional registration (e.g., HCPC)
  • Extensive experience in working with children and families, particularly those with disabilities
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.

This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
