Are you a passionate and dedicated Social Worker looking to make a positive impact on the lives of children with disabilities? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Social Worker to join our Children with Disabilities Team, reporting to the Team Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and contribute to the well-being of our local community.

As a Social Worker, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, receiving support and guidance to further enhance your knowledge and expertise. You will be responsible for assessing the needs of children with disabilities and their families and providing appropriate support and intervention to ensure their well-being. This role offers a diverse range of responsibilities, including:

  • Conducting assessments and formulating care plans
  • Undertaking direct work with children and families
  • Collaborating with partner agencies to coordinate services
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and attributes:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England
  • A genuine passion for working with children and families, with a focus on delivering high-quality care and support
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues, service users, and external stakeholders
  • The ability to work autonomously, managing a varied workload and prioritising tasks effectively
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures within the social care sector

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.

This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
