Are you an experienced driver with a passion for providing excellent customer service? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working as part of a dedicated team? If so, West Berkshire Council has an exciting opportunity for you to join our Transport and Countryside Service as a Transport Services Driver.

As a Transport Services Driver, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of passengers, including children and vulnerable adults, to various locations within and outside of West Berkshire. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating a range of vehicles, such as minibuses and accessible transport, in accordance with relevant legislation and Council policies
  • Providing a friendly and professional service to passengers, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout their journey
  • Assisting passengers with boarding and alighting, including those with mobility aids or additional needs
  • Conducting vehicle checks and reporting any defects or maintenance requirements
  • Maintaining accurate records of journeys, mileage, and passenger details

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • A valid UK driving licence with D1 entitlement (minibus)
  • Excellent driving skills and a good knowledge of local and national road networks
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with passengers of all ages and backgrounds
  • A responsible and reliable approach to work, demonstrating punctuality and adherence to schedules
  • The flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, as required
