Are you an experienced Project Engineer looking for a new and exciting opportunity? Join West Berkshire Council and play a key role in shaping and improving our local transport and countryside infrastructure.

As a Project Engineer within our Highways Service, you will work closely with the Principal Engineer to deliver a wide range of projects, ensuring the effective management and delivery of highways, transportation and countryside schemes. You will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects, from road improvements and cycleway developments to countryside access enhancements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Undertake feasibility studies, design work and contract preparation for highways projects
  • Manage and supervise contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Provide technical advice and support to internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in the development and implementation of transport and countryside strategies

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • A qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven experience in project management within a highways or transportation environment
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and industry best practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders
