Are you an experienced Engineer looking for a new challenge within a dynamic and forward-thinking local authority? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Transport and Countryside Service, based at Market Street Offices in the heart of beautiful West Berkshire.

As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of a wide range of transport and infrastructure projects, working closely with the Principal Engineer to ensure the effective management and implementation of schemes. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, including highway improvements, sustainable transport initiatives, and countryside access enhancements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Undertake technical design and project management of highway and infrastructure schemes
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on engineering matters to internal and external stakeholders
  • Preparation and management of budgets and contracts
  • Collaborate with colleagues and partners to promote sustainable and integrated transport solutions
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery and performance

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • A qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience in the design and delivery of highway and infrastructure projects
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders
