Vacancy Description

Are you passionate about road safety and making a positive impact in your community? West Berkshire Council is seeking a skilled and dedicated Speed Management Technician to join our Transport and Countryside Service and contribute to the ongoing improvement of road safety within the region.

Reporting to the Senior Road Safety Officer, you will play a key role in the delivery of effective speed management measures, ensuring the safety of road users and promoting responsible driving behaviour. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of speed management initiatives, such as speed limits, traffic calming measures, and speed awareness campaigns.
  • Conducting site assessments and data analysis to identify areas of concern and recommend appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to raise awareness of speed-related issues and encourage community engagement.
  • Providing support in the investigation and resolution of public enquiries and complaints regarding speed management.

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and attributes:

  • A good understanding of road safety principles and relevant legislation.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and utilise data effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals and groups.
  • Well-organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems, including Microsoft Office suite.
