Are you an experienced and highly motivated professional looking for a new challenge in a dynamic and forward-thinking local authority? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Complaints and Access to Records Manager to join our People -CFS team, reporting to the Executive Director, People -CFS.

As the Complaints and Access to Records Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective management and resolution of complaints, as well as overseeing access to records requests. You will be responsible for leading a dedicated team, providing guidance and support to ensure a fair and transparent process.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the complaints and access to records functions within the People -CFS service
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practice
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to staff and stakeholders on complaints and access to records matters
  • Drive continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance the customer experience
  • Produce regular reports and analysis to inform decision-making

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Extensive experience in complaints management and access to records, ideally within a public sector or regulatory environment
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Local Government Act 1974 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach, with the ability to work effectively under pressure
