Vacancy Description

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in people's lives? Do you have experience in providing high-quality care and support to vulnerable adults? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dedicated team at West Berkshire Council as a Residential Care Officer.

As a Residential Care Officer, you will report to the Unit Manager and play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and comfort of our residents. You will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the team of Care Practitioners and ensuring the safe and smooth operation of the shift
  • Assisting with daily activities, promoting independence and maintaining a safe environment - this includes undertaking medication administration.
  • Building positive relationships with residents, their families, and other healthcare professionals
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to care planning and reviews

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Previous experience in a similar care role, ideally within a care home setting
  • A compassionate and empathetic nature, with a genuine desire to help others
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently
  • A flexible approach to work, including availability for shift work and occasional weekends
