Vacancy Description

West Berkshire Council is looking to recruit a NIGHT Residential Care officer to join our staff team at Birchwood Care Home which provides nursing care and care for frail elderly residents, some with dementia and challenging behaviour.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills, who is ready for a challenge, has empathy for older people, commitment and a values based approach to their work.

Those values dictate how we support our residents, their families and each other.

The person working in this position will have a key responsibilities:

  • To manage shifts by leading and working alongside the care team in delivering good quality care in accordance with residents’ care plans
  • To assist the senior leadership/ leadership  team in ensuring the smooth running of the home on a day to day basis
  • To contribute to the overall quality of the home and quality of life of the residents.

It is vital therefore that you are friendly, approachable and able to cope calmly and sensitively in all situations. We are looking for a Night Residential Care Officer who can work as an integral part of the team which is always striving to improve standards within the home. Your work will be varied, as you will have daily contact with residents, families, staff, external professionals taking into to account the time of day and the out of hours professional who are also working.
