Vacancy Description

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, positive, and innovative school finance professional. We are building on our solid financial management to ensure that we meet the financial and non-financial challenges currently affecting schools and education. We expect the post-holder to provide excellent support and robust challenge to the directorate to ensure the highest level of service provision.

Reporting the Chief Management Accountant and based in the Finance & Property service, you will be responsible for leading, developing and motivating a team of ten. We expect you to be a CCAB qualified accountant with schools funding experience, a history of successful people management and outstanding communication skills.

You will provide high quality financial support to the Executive Director – People and the directorate management team and will work with senior colleagues on high profile corporate projects to help the Council achieve its priority outcomes. An appreciation of the changes facing school and education finance will be supported by your ability to report and communicate financial information clearly.

The role will include setting the Schools and Education budgets and supporting the Council and our schools in the management of those budgets throughout the year. The role will include reporting the financial position to Headteachers, Governors, Officers and Members.

This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
