Vacancy Description

The Waste Management Team have an opening for a Waste Officer. If you enjoy working with the public, are passionate about the environment and are an effective team player this could be the ideal role for you.

Key tasks relate to the monitoring of waste services provided under the Council’s waste contract with Veolia.  Such services include household rubbish and recycling collections and street cleansing operations.

Working as an integral part of the Operations team, you would be responsible for responding to residents enquiries and managing waste related issues within a desiganted area of West Berkshire. 

You should be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the principle issues relating to waste management and hold GCSE level C or above in Maths and English.

Essential skills and abilities include:

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • good problem solving skills
  • the ability to work on your own and manage your own work load

We offer a flexible working hours, a fleet vehicle for business purposes and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.

To apply you must be 21 years old, or over, and hold a current full driving licence.  For fleet insurance purposes you are required to have a minimum of one years driving experience.
